Carlos Mencia was born in San Pedro Sula, Honduras in 1967. He was raised by his aunt and uncle. His major was interstingly enough in electrical engineering. Carlos Mencia is a comedian who often incorperates politics into his comedy. By 1994 he was hosting a latino comedy show called Loco Slam. In 2005 he got his own half hour show on comedy central. Many people criticise his work; most of them are comedians. Some of this criticism is justified, however, after Hurricane Katrina he made rude comments about colored people. Carlos Mencia has publicly anounced that he would like to change his televised persona into someone more likable. He would not have gone to a career in comedy had he not had such a great performance at an open mic night at The Laugh Factory. He did many stand-up shows before ever getting on TV. Interstingly enough, his brother also did some comedy.
