Ernesto Che Guevara was born in Rosario, Argentina in 1928. He was the eldest of five children and developed an affinity for the poor at a very young age. This may have been because he was introduced to a wide range of political spectrums as a child. He had several major cases of asthma. Ernesto Che Guevara became an avid chess player and participated in several local tournaments. When he was twenty he went to the University of Buenos Aires to study medicine. He took two breaks from his studies to go on trips around South America. In 1954 he started work in the allergy section of the General Hospital in Mexico City. After seeing so much of the injustices occurring all over South Carolina he participated in the Cuban Revolution. In guerilla warfare training he had some of the highest scores on the tests and was one of the prize students. He considered his job as a general not just one of leading people into war but also a chance to educate them. He read to his men during breaks from engagement. In 1967 Ernesto Che Guevara was captured by US forces. On October 9th the Bolivian president asked that he be killed.
